It is 11:48pm and this is the first time I've sat down since 3pm. Thus far I've made:
sweet potato pie
green bean casserole (have always hated it, will always hate it)
dirty rice
mirliton casserole
candied yams
Why did that short list take me that long? I haven't a clue. These people coming tomorrow better recognize my mad skillz.
sigh, so tired. tiiiiiirrrreeed.
...or that is my understanding of the pronunciation anyway... however I have a habit of frequently being WAY off and confused so please do correct me.
ReplyDeleteWhat is mirliton? It better not be what is pronounced "mel-a-tawn" because my parents make stuff with that and it is freaking NASTY and gushy and gross. Green bean casserole is definitely where it's at. :P
ReplyDeleteit's "mil-a-tawn" and it's not gross. Green bean casserole is disgusting and foul and the only reason I made it is because jparks asked for it. He apparently has no taste buds and likes that crap.
ReplyDeleteHappy Turkey Day!!! I'm sure your meal is going to be tasty + wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI've never had any of those dishes at thanksgiving or christmas. They sound so American, so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI had to Google "mirliton casserole" because I've never heard of a "mirliton" before. Turns out it's what I know as a chayote :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
Apparently Louisiana is the only state to call chayotes mirliton. We are special like that.
ReplyDeleteYes, they better! Hope you rested some.
ReplyDeleteAw, yee-aa, it was good stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteLisa has a great recipe for green beens that actually tastes good if you are interested for next year.
