Tonight we hung some Christmas lights on the porch. (shut it, I don't care that Thanksgiving isn't here yet) I went with two strands of blue LEDs and two strands of white ones and just sort of wrapped them around the railing on the front of the porch. I'm sure my neighbors will out decorate me in two weeks, but whatever, my lights kick ass right now.
And since I'm not one to stop when something can be done bigger, I'm going back to Target and getting more lights for the porch. All that's left is for me to figure out how you attach the lights to exterior walls without nails or hooks. Duct tape or is that a bit trashy? If it is, I'm going all out and am buying the teal or neon orange duct tape. Why be a little trashy when you can go full trailer park?
I know this looks doesn't look like much, but it's the first picture of our first Christmas without going back to New Orleans. And if things keep going this way, I'm not so sure it's going to suck as much as I was expecting.
Would staples be better than nails or hooks? You should be able to pull them out pretty easily with pliers afterwards and not leave big holes. The only downside is that you'll need a decent staple gun which might be dangerous to have around the house. I would suggest buying it and doing the work sometime jparks isn't around and then hiding it, then hoping he doesn't put 2 and 2 together.
ReplyDelete3M makes scads of removable sticky hooks (similar to post-its). They should be in the same section as the lights. I put up some lights 2 years ago using them and they're still up (um...). Look for more heavy-duty ones for outside.
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate for Christmas, so I don't know how to hang lights. But I like the choice of blue! I like the idea of the 3M hooks. I use those in the house and they are easy to remove.
ReplyDeleteI think the blue is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful Regan. Lights have always been my favorite part of the holiday season!
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty! I agree I love the blue. Our Christmas tree, as Charlie-esque as it is, is all decked out in blue.
ReplyDeleteIt seems you're not the only one into the whole blue and white thing. In Japan I guess they don't have to worry about Thanksgiving getting in the way of their Christmas decorating.
