PSA

It's August and that means summer is ending here in the Bay Area, but I know in other parts of the country it's still hot and humid. And hot and humid weather usually forces people to find relief in any form possible: air conditioned houses, swimming pools, popsicles, etc. With this in mind, I want to offer a Public Service Announcement to everyone in warmer environments.

This:

will freeze itself to your tongue and when you go to remove it, well, ouch. The removal of this tasty treat of pain can cause a loss of tongue skin and can result in pain for a couple of days afterwards.

Not that I know anything about this. I mean I'm way to smart to get my tongue stuck to a popsicle. Nope, it would never happen to me.

  2. Hmm popscicles.... I've been on a great quest to find a cyclone one, but apparently they are only in Canada. This has caused me, the walking pregnancy hormone, a lot of grief.
Also I am so excited that it's not so damned hot!

  3. Ummm, I don't know how to say this other than just spitting it out, but... August in the Bay Area means that we have another 2-2.5 months of summer weather here. And if you live in San Francisco proper or on the coast, summer weather doesn't really start until September.

The entire month of September is as hot as August, and sometimes even hotter, depending on the year. And October will start off hot, and will cool down some by Halloween, but only barely. In a cold autumn, you might feel it cool down by mid-October. But you can still get a triple digit heat wave in the October 20s.

  4. let me clarify: In New Orleans, where I'm from, it's 94 degrees, but thanks to the humidity it feels like it's 107. Here is Los Altos, where I work, it's 74 degrees with no humidity. In my book that means it's fall, moving on to winter.
