Tropical Storm Ernesto can't hurt me

It's very weird to have a tropical storm about to enter the Gulf and I am not freaking out, running to Wal-Mart to buy candles and canned goods. I am concerned and I don't want it to head towards New Orleans (what a horrible way to celebrate Katrina's anniversary, having to hunker down and deal with another hurricane) but it's still really bizarre to know this hurricane can't hurt me. I know my stuff won't be lost again, that I won't have to grab my animals and head to Texas, and that I don't have to worry about finding a new home when I don't even know if my old home still exists.

I think it's even more weird that I kinda miss preparing for a hurricane. It's better than living in constant fear of an earthquake.

  1. Weren't you sufficiently frightened by the 1906 anniversary?? Right after we moved here was the 10 year anniversary of Loma Prieta. That's when we started our earthquake kit. Get thee to Costco! Buy lots of water!

  2. oh hell ya, I was frightened by that! I hate earthquakes. I drive around and I'm constantly thinking "I hope an earthquake doesn't hit right now, becasue this overpass doesn't look safe." I worry one will hit while I'm at work and I can't get home. I worry all the time about not being prepared. I don't have a Costco membership, but oh how I wish I did.

  5. I think eveyone here thinks I'm nuts, but I love hurricane season...it's such a rush being stressed out and all. We had some flash flooding up here this past week and I was getting so frustrated because no one here knows how to drive in flooded streets...enjoy those earthquakes...we don't have much up here, just an occasional ice storm. no hurricanes, no earthquakes, no tornadoes...it's so boring!
